Evolution vs Creation

How does this universe grow? Was it birthed by the big bang or was it a divine thought throughout?

I lifted my head up as an infant and then I tried to crawl, then walk, then I stood tall
As I lifted my face and turned to the skies, to face the stars
I wondered; how did we come to be what we are?
How does this universe grow?
Was it birthed by the big bang or was it a divine thought throughout?
Evolution it is, shouted the fossils as they whisper about changes to this world in layered stones
Creation, proclaim the sacred texts, since life can be from God alone.
A man called Darwin planted this tree called evidence watered it with deduction and then it grew wild with branches of reason
While that apple tree in the book of Genesis stood calm and resolutely still at heaven’s gate.
One speaks in genes, about struggle, tooth and claw,
The other holds onto order, love, and law.
And in this clash of ancient mind and bone,
I sought the truth, seeking confirmation that in this universe we do not stand alone
I found comfort in the language of religion which spoke to me of dust and divine breath
Of hands that shaped the clay to form me, an intended design, and not some chance occurrence
Yet as I pursued knowledge in my youth, I could follow with clarity science that charts a grand design
And mapped out how through random steps, each form of life grew into its own and found its ensign
I watched with equal reverence as the faithful knelt where mysteries reside,
And found their solace in verses carved by prophets, saints, and seers.
But evolution walks with an equally measured stride,
Explaining life through bones, beaks and ancient years.
I wondered, as I purveyed these two strong contenders, yet do they still not meet? At that corner where awe and wonder resided?
Each seeking that truth that they believe the other does not have.
I wonder, could they both be two sides of the same coin?
That the fossils are but the wood shavings left behind by the divine craftsman?
In his workshop where he crafted life and commanded it to evolve, he left behind
Traces of his presence which we call evolution?
